EMDR Therapy

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation — guided eye movements, alternating sounds, or self-tapping — to help your brain reprocess stuck memories and change how you react to triggers. While best known for treating trauma, it also works to build internal resilience and break stubborn behavioural loops.

Desensitisation or Integration?

Both.

EMDR is often viewed as a rapid symptom-reduction tool, but it is deeply versatile. EMDR can be integrated into longer-term, exploratory work, or used effectively as a stand-alone, solution-focused intervention. Far more than mere 'desensitisation', EMDR is a powerful method for re-integrating split-off psychic material. By reducing the intensity of the traumatic material, it allows the brain's natural capacity to process to come online. This approach safely reconnects dissociated experiences to the broader memory network — and to the internal resources they have long been disconnected from — allowing for profound healing within a relational container.

EMDR is effective for a wide range of issues, including:

Acute Trauma & PTSD

Processing sudden, high-impact events like accidents, physical assaults, medical crises, or natural disasters.

Internal Resource Building

Strengthening grounded internal states, unique psychological resources, resilience, self-compassion, and personal agency, either alongside deep trauma processing or as a stand-alone intervention.

C-PTSD & Developmental Trauma

Re-processing long-term, repeated relational injuries — such as childhood emotional neglect, chronic abuse, or systemic trauma — that shape core self-beliefs and relationship patterns.

Addiction & Compulsive Behaviors

Targeting the underlying trauma, nervous system dysregulation, and body-image wounds that drive loops like binge eating, substance misuse, or behavioural compulsions.

Phobias, Anxiety, and Panic

Moving through disproportionate fear responses triggered by specific objects, situations, or environments.  Working with social anxiety, performance anxiety, and panic attacks.

Complicated Grief & Traumatic Loss

Helping the brain process stuck, painful memories surrounding a devastating loss so you can grieve without feeling continuously overwhelmed.
